Back to Back Wins
Sunday, 21 June 2009

Because of the previous weeks win Randy would need to start the heat race

and feature at the end of the field ( Track Rules ). The heat race had gotten a little

rough and crazy with drivers spinning other drivers and so i (Jr. ) made a call to

randy to bring the car into the pit before we got wrecked. We were going to be at

the rear anyway so we were both saving our tires and most of all keeping the car

in one piece.

Its now Feature time, the 9 car field is now set with Jeff Burgess on the pole and

randy at the rear with a long way to go. The first 6 cars are very experienced and

competitive at this track , but last years Championship driver is up to the challenge.

The green is now in the air and randy started right away passing cars both inside

and outside which ever lane was open and continously moved to the front one car

after another. The caution come out at about half way with scott moore having a hole

in his oil tank which left the track with alot of oil and speeddry on the track which

made for a lenghty clean up, and several laps of cars up to speed trying to blow the

speedydry off the track. After the track was believed to be ok to race on the flagman

crossed the cars up with scott king on the pole and randy out side pole for the

restart, when the green come out both cars had good take off and were dead even

and a little rubbing partially to a dirty track and both trying to take the lead, but at the

end of the first lap of the restart randy was leading and pulled away to a comfortable

lead with about 5 laps to go charlie colby got by scott king who was quite fast but

randy won at the checkers with a bit of a distance. Back To Back wins doesnt come

easy or happen often at a race track in the prostock division so this is very impressive.

This couldnt have happened without our GREAT pitcrew and great work and tecnical

advise from Distance Racing ( Thank You Jeff & Shawn ), All and all R.T.R. had a

very good day in the 09 Toyota Camry.

Thank You to all Crew & Fans!!

Expecting we had repaired all mechanical problems from previous weeks races the team hit the track with positive thoughts. Practice went well and now for the heat race. Randy will start outside pole for the heat race, this week it will be a 15 lap heat race. It is my understanding this will change each week with car counts. Randy would lead each one of the laps green to checkers and would win the heat but not with out a challenge from the 11 car of scott king , randy won by about a fender.

Its feature time, randy will start on the pole with the 34 car of jeff burgess on his out side which has allways been close racing at any track these two drivers have competed at. The green flag is in the air and after a challenge randy jumped out into the lead and had a good distance back to 2nd place until the caution come out at about half way. At this point the 11 car of scott king had made his way into 2nd , should make for an interesting restart as both cars are fast. The green is back in the air both the 1 car and the 11 car run side by side for atleast 4 laps and randy finally pulled ahead but not with out a fight as the last dozen or so laps both cars were nose to tail only inches apart and on the final lap the 11 car would make one last attempt to pass but couldnt make it happen and randy would get his first prostock win at wiscasset raceway.

One reporter called this race between Randy and Scott ( A Dog Fight )

                   Thank you: Crew and Fans!

The car was ok in practice on old tires then was much better on new tires. For the heat race randy lined up 4th place which only had 8 cars that would race, some already had mechanical issues during practice. Randys car was quite good but front cars had handling issues and randy could go nowhere and would start in the 4th position for the feature. It is now feature time, the cars are heading for the track taking hot laps before the green but the cars engine is acting up (not running well) and before the green the engine stops, randy comes in the pits the carb is flooding, we work on it and get the engine running as the race is already under way by the time he hits the track but he enters anyway for a few laps just to see if the engine runs any better which it does and the car was fast, but randy didnt think there was anything to gain by staying on the track and parked the car to do needed repairs for next weeks racing. R.T.R. still fighting early season woes but the team will keep working until it goes away.

An 8th place finish for the R.T.R./Norris Racing Team.

                                                    Thank You Everyone!!!  R.T.R.

R.T.R. started the race season off at the PASS 150 race at Randys former home track Unity Raceway. Randy & crew stood consistant at being first at the ticket booth as well as the first car through the tech garage for prerace check, everything is ok.Now for the heat race draw which could have been much better but we'll play the cards delt to us,(a long way to go) . R.T.R. starts next to last in the heat race , 23 cars in class all will race. The heat races are finished , Randy will line up 14th for the feature.

Now its feature time, the green flag flew and as soon as there was an opening randy would fill it, the car was quite good and very fast. By lap 35 randy was running in the top 5 and racing those cars for position and at this point in the race the top 5 cars were pulling away from the rest of the field which ended up been approximately a 75 green flag run. Randy raced scott chubbuck several laps and finally got by him next was ben rowe which was several side by side lap racing and again randy got by him , next was johnny clark and after some tight racing and defensive rubbing by johnny randy got by him. At this point a caution comes out because 2 of the front runners made contact which lined randy up on the front row inside. When the green flew once again johnny clark on the outside got a better restart than randy as randy said over the radio the transmissoin wouldnt stay in 3rd gear so this means high gear restarts which isnt ideal but something he could live with, and for a few laps after going green the car feit like it had a tire going down until the pressure come back up then randy had a few cautions to deal with until everyone settled in . Then with about 35 laps to go randy come over the radio and said that he thought he had used up his tires and not sure if he had anything for johnny, then with about 10 laps to go another caution on the track. Another restart this being randys last chance at leading the race randy spun his tires on the restart and at the checkers randy had a Very good first race of the season with a 3rd place finish.

R.T.R. has a very determined and hard working team which works very well together! Thank you one and all!!
